In mid-May, the orca season is over and the last visitors have already left Peninsula Valdes. Then one of the most beautiful moments in our town begins, when you can enjoy wide lonely beaches, where silence is only interrupted by the sound of the sea and seabirds.
It is the best time and place for introspection and meditation, and a nice antidote to the fast pace of life in the city, breathing fresh pure air and enjoying clear night skies to enjoy stars and constellations.
The days go by peacefully until the end of the month, when locals and very few visitors start looking out to the sea expecting to see a blow. It is the ideal moment to come and receive the whales with us!
The arrival of the whales is a unique experience to witness.
During 4 consecutive years, the arrival of the southern right whales to our bay was spread worldwide through a live transmission, both online and on television. The event broadcast throughout our country as the Whales Vigil.
This is a must see natural event that takes place in early June, when the whales that migrated to their breeding grounds begin to gather in the whale watching area near Puerto Piramides, and can be observed from the coast until the season of whale watching aboard starts, in mid June.
